Navigating Trauma Informed Care
Addiction is a primary, chronic disease of brain reward, memory, & related circuitry. Dysfunction in these circuits leads to characteristic biological, psychological, social, & spiritual manifestations. This is reflected in an individual pathologically pursuing reward and/or relief by substance use and other behaviors. Mindfulness better supports self- understanding and self- compassion. Using Mindfulness, encourages more “recovery work”, emotional regulation and distress tolerance.
